Ilene Mason: MBA, CEM, CDSM

Founder and CEO

Ilene started Rethinking Power Management with a vision of reducing the impacts of climate change by helping commercial clients turn an interest in energy conservation and sustainability into realities. Previously, Ilene worked with the Consortium for Energy Efficiency organizing utilities, government entities, manufacturers and other stakeholders in support of efficiency-related market-transformation initiatives across the U.S. and Canada. Ilene began her career with ten years in manufacturing and design engineering working for Vishay, a leading manufacturer of discrete semiconductors and passive components. Other business experience includes writing for the Sierra Club and managing organizations/programs including software training facilities, municipal recycling programs, and an orthopedic surgical practice. She holds a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from Lehigh University and an MBA from F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College. Ilene is an AEE Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Demand-side Manager (CDSM).

David Mitchell

Senior Energy Engineer

Dave has extensive and intimate knowledge of buildings and building systems having started and managed a MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) company for over 30 years. Dave also started a sheet metal fabrication company, a dehumidification company, and even an ice cream shop in St. Kitts before deciding to focus his attention on energy efficiency. Dave’s experience in institutional, commercial, industrial and residential energy efficiency coupled with his knowledge in LEED implementation and as a Certified Building Commissioning Professional afford him unique insight when evaluating overall operating conditions of a variety of buildings.  Dave understands the advantages and pitfalls of advanced technologies and remains current in this ever-changing world. With his extensive experience and hands-on approach, Dave is able to develop solutions that are practical and effective.

Stephen Murphy

Senior Energy Engineer

Steve has broad experience is various industries. His expertise in electrical power factor and power quality, lighting and control systems has benefited companies in both private and public sectors. He brings a unique perspective to RPM clients having been as an in-house engineer and a consulting engineer. The common thread throughout his career has been a passion for sustainability. Prior to joining RPM, Steve managed multi-million dollar projects at Commercial Construction Consulting, served as District Facilities Manager for the Old Rochester Regional School District of Mattapoisett, MA, was Director of Engineering at Johnson & Wales University, worked on the Central Artery Tunnel project as a Senior Electrical Engineer at Bechtel, and started his career as an Engineer at National Grid. Steve holds a BS in Marine Engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and an MS in Management from Lesley College.

William Lippincott: cem

Energy Engineer

William has a deep-rooted passion for environmental sustainability, making it a part of his professional and personal endeavors. He brings strong research and data analysis skills to RPM projects, leads internal data collection initiatives, and supports engineering project development. Before joining RPM, William managed community outreach teams at Next Step Living and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management's organic farm certification and land use restriction programs. During his internship at the U.S. Department of Energy, he participated in the creation of America’s Home Energy Education Challenge. William has a BA in Environmental Studies from American University, and a MS in Energy Systems at Northeastern University.


OLIVER KLEIN: RA, LEED AP

Building Systems Consultant

After serving as an architectural designer working on projects in a variety of industries, including academic, hospitality, medical, museum, and civic projects, Oliver shifted his focus to building sciences. As Building Scientist and Project Manager at National Grid, he managed 40+ projects as part of the Deep Energy Retrofit (DER) pilot program to achieve dramatic energy savings and comfort improvements in residential homes. Over the next decade, he continued to expand his building science experience in Passive House and zero-carbon projects. Oliver utilizes his expertise in building envelope performance, construction methodologies, and decarbonization retrofits working with RPM clients. He holds a A.B. in Engineering Sciences, a B.E. in Engineering Design, and a M.S. in Materials Science from Dartmouth College (Thayer School of Engineering), and a M. Arch from Boston Architectural College. In addition to all of this, Oliver is a classical violinist who served as Assistant Concertmaster of the Panama National Symphony while living in Panama in 1993-94; is an avid outdoor enthusiast, organic gardener, and beekeeper.


Andrew davey

Energy Engineer

Andrew’s insatiable appetite for learning coupled with his passion for sustainability have been anchors in his success. Skilled in energy modeling and mechanical design, Andrew served as a project manager at an MEP consulting firm, generating plans, specifications, narratives, calculations, energy models, and equipment selections for building HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for clients in educational, institutional, healthcare/hospital, and light commercial applications. He brings this expertise to RPM where he designs and manages energy and decarbonization projects, working closely with RPM clients to understand their needs and realize their goals. Andrew holds a BS in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, earned a certificate of Applied Data Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is recipient of a Fryrear Fellowship in Scientific Computing from the Colorado School Mines.

Freda King: MBA

Organizational Development

Throughout her career, Freda has led and/or supported multi-stakeholder teams. She has a strong ability to understand the needs of each constituent. Whether deciphering organizational complexities or dealing with numerous data and information, her partnership approach ensures the best possible outcome. Freda focuses on working closely with Ilene in designing the company’s organizational structure, employee development, and HR systems. Freda holds a BA in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Maine, and a MBA with an emphasis in entrepreneurship from Simmons School of Management.
